HC Deb 16 December 1992 vol 216 cc226-32W
Mr. Blunkett

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will give the numbers of whole-time equivalent hospital staff in post in England on 30 September 1991 and 30 September 1992, subdivided by grade and sex.

Dr. Mawhinney

[holding answer 8 December 1992]: The figures for the 30 September 1992 are not yet available. The required figures for 30 September 1991 are given in the table. It is not possible for non-nursing staff to code whether they work within a hospital. The figures exclude those for medical and dental staff which are not yet available. It is not possible to give non-direct care staff figures split by grade, as these are no longer collected centrally.
