§ Mr. David HuntIt is the responsibility of householders to ensure that they have adequate insurance for their homes and contents. I have already met the chief executive of the Association of British Insurers who has assured me that all claims submitted to members of the association will be dealt with expeditiously.
In addition, any homes so badly damaged that they now fail to meet the statutory fitness standard may qualify for mandatory home renovation grants. Discretionary assistance may also be available for certain works over and above that standard.
