§ Mr. ForthIn January 1992 in maintained schools in England, 25 per cent. of primary pupils were in classes of over 30 pupils taught by one teacher whilst 40 per cent. of secondary pupils were in one-teacher classes of over 35. The equivalent figures for Redbridge local education authority were 57 per cent. and 47 per cent. respectively.
