§ Dr. MawhinneySince 1985 the Department of Health has run a series of campaigns against drug misuse, using mass media advertising and other media. As the main thrust of the 1992–93 campaign, European Drug Prevention Week was financed using existing allocations. The purpose of the week, consistent with previous campaigns, was to raise awareness of the dangers of drug and solvent misuse, especially among young people, their parents and other concerned adults.
