HL Deb 15 December 1992 vol 541 c33WA
Lord Clinton-Davis

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have considered representations made by the Law Society urging the need for reform of the legislation covering credit cards in order to clear up uncertainties concerning protection for users of credit cards to purchase goods or services which subsequently prove to be defective; and, if so, what action they propose to take.

Baroness Denton of Wakefield

The Law Society's representations have been referred to the Director-General of Fair Trading who is reviewing the law in this area. I will consider the matter further when I have received the director-general's views.
