What amounts are currently owed by the Government of the Sudan to:
- (a) The International Monetary Fund,
- (b) Her Majesty's Government,
- (c) Other governments and international bodies, and
- (d) Commercial sources.
§ Baroness Chalker of WallaseyDebts owed by the Sudan to the International Monetary Fund totalled approximately £1 billion as of 30th November 1992.
All of the Sudan's debts to the ODA have been cancelled. Some debts to ECGD remain, but it is not ECGD's current practice to disclose the amounts involved for individual debtors.
The Sudan's total official debts (excluding those to the IMF) totalled approximately £4.2 billion in 1990. Of this, about £3.2 billion was due to bilateral creditors and about £1 billion to multilateral creditors, including the World Bank.
Debts owed by the Sudan to commercial sources totalled approximately £1 billion in 1990, of which nearly all was due to commercial banks.
