HC Deb 11 December 1992 vol 215 c818W
Sir John Stanley

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will ensure that domestic commuter rail services are not curtailed on either the Tonbridge or the Maidstone East line to London in order to make way for through channel tunnel passenger trains.

Mr. Freeman

British Rail gave an assurance to Parliament during the passage of the Channel Tunnel Act 1987 to the effect that existing domestic services would not be adversely affected by the introduction of international services through the channel tunnel. British Rail has every intention of standing by that assurance.
