§ Sir George YoungMy Department does not have separate estimates of average rents for local authority houses and flats. The estimated average weekly rents for council dwellings at April of each year in England from 1979 to 1991 are:

The estimate for 1991 is derived from local authorities' housing revenue account subsidy claim form returns to the Department.
