To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) further to his answer of 27 November,Official Report, columns 849–50, how Her Majesty's Government will be able to dispose of the underground facilities for which he has no plans to permit use for purposes not related to wartime or other emergencies;

(2) further to his answer of 27 November, Official Report, columns 849–50, if he will give fresh consideration to the uses to which the underground facilities might be put; and if he will provide a list of uses which Her Majesty's Government are willing to (a) permit or (b) encourage in the event of the facilities being disposed of.

We do not propose to use or to develop these sites for alternative purposes. The normal rules for disposal will be followed including, where necessary, first offering sites back to the current or previous owner. Other sites will he placed for sale on the open market. The use to which they are put after disposal will be a matter for whoever acquires them.
