§ Mr. DuncanTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport whether he will authorise Rutland council to paint large white roundels on its village roads drawing attention to the existence of a 30 mph limit on the lines of the current experiment in the Bovingdon area of Hertfordshire.
§ Mr. Kenneth CarlisleThe experiments to determine the effectiveness of painting speed limit roundels on the road surface, as a way of influencing driver choice of speed, are not yet complete. If they are shown to improve road safety, we will authorise local highway authorities to instal them where appropriate.
