HC Deb 08 December 1992 vol 215 cc559-60W
Mr. Adley

To ask the Secretary of State for Education what provision is being made for transport for children attending grant-maintained schools.

Mr. Forth

Local education authorities have a statutory duty to provide free transport for pupils who attend grant-maintained schools for whom they consider it necessary, and the power to assist other pupils. Information on LEAs' schools transport arrangements is not collected centrally, but they must treat GM pupils no less favourably as regards transport than pupils who attend schools maintained by an LEA.
