HC Deb 08 December 1992 vol 215 c635W
Mr. Pickthall

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will take measures to speed up medical complaints procedures and make them more patient-friendly.

Mr. Sackville

The patients charter has given people the right to have any complaint about national health service services—whoever provides them—investigated and to receive a full and prompt written reply from the chief executive or the general manager.

In addition, the recent extension of the patients charter into primary health care has set targets for family health services authorities to improve their performance in dealing with complaints about general medical services.
