HC Deb 08 December 1992 vol 215 c608W
Mr. Alex Carlile

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what proposals he has to increase subsidies to encourage the growing of broadleaf trees in Wales; and if he will make a statement.

Sir Wyn Roberts

The Government have no plans to increase the subsidies which are already available to encourage the planting of broadleaved trees. Higher rates of grant are paid under the woodland grant scheme for the establishment and management of broadleaved woodlands, and these have been successful in encouraging an increased amount of broadleaved planting in Wales.
