§ Ms. LynneTo ask the Secretary of State for Health (1) what estimate she has made of the capital cost of hospital investment in London resulting from the recommendations of the Tomlinson report; and what provision has been made for this expenditure in public expenditure plans;
(2) what estimate she has made of the cost of transfer or redundancy pay for doctors displaced as a result of the recommendations of the Tomlinson report; and what provision has been made for this expenditure in public expenditure plans;
(3) what assessment she has made of the validity of the estimate in the Tomlinson report of the cost of provision of further primary care services in London; and what provision has been made for this expenditure in public expenditure plans.
§ Dr. Mawhinney[holding answer 3 December 1992]: The capital cost implications of Sir Bernard Tomlinson's recommendations are being studied as part of the Government's consideration of the report. Clearly they are dependent on whatever decisions are made.
We shall put forward our proposals for the future direction of London's health services, including the financial implications, in the new year. At that time we will take full account of the implications of any changes for national health service staff working in London.
