HC Deb 04 December 1992 vol 215 c442W
Mr. Nigel Evans

To ask the President of the Board of Trade (1) what is the total amount of inward investment the north west of England has received in the last 10 years, year by year;

(2) what measures are being taken to attract inward investment to the north west of England.

Mr. Sainsbury

My Department's Invest in Britain Bureau promotes the whole of the United Kingdom as an attractive location for overseas inward investors. In 1992–93 it provided grant-in-aid of £1,112,000 to INWARD to undertake overseas inward investment promotional activities for the north-west region.

The table shows the number of inward investment projects and the associated jobs which the north-west has received in the last 10 years.
