To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will provide an up-to-date account of the number of applications for asylum currently outstanding.

During the first week in November we undertook a full count of asylum cases. This shows that on 1 November there was a total of 51,800 initial applications awaiting decisions. These figures exclude dependants.
