HL Deb 02 December 1992 vol 540 c93WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether any of the civil servants who advised the Chancellor of the Exchequer on the salary freezes announced in the Autumn Statement stand to gain from the omission of senior persons from those freezes.

The Minister of State, Department of Transport (The Earl of Caithness)

In common with other groups whose pay is subject to recommendations by the Top Salaries Review Body, senior civil servants will receive no pay increase in the coming year, in line with the Government's policy of restricting pay settlements in the public sector to between 0 and 1½ per cent.

The Government have announced that offers made before the Autumn Statement will be honoured. This includes settlements reached for the current year for the TSRB groups, including that part of that award which was to be deferred until 1993 but which nonetheless related to the award for 1992.
