The Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department, has asked me to reply to your question concerning the cost of the Exchequer of my fact finding visit to land registries in Australia and New Zealand in October 1991.The Land Registry is a self-financing agency that makes no call on the Exchequer. The visit, which was in response to an invitation to address the 19th Conference of Registrars of Title, was made at a total cost of £5,199.55.
