HC Deb 01 December 1992 vol 215 c100W
Mr. Mackinlay

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what fire regulations are imposed on(a) English stately homes which are open to the public and(b) to Windsor castle.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

Under the Fire Precautions Act 1971, the use of premises or parts of premises as an office, shop, factory, railway premises, hotel or boarding house where the numbers of people involved are above certain minima may require a fire certificate. Any part of a stately home or of Windsor castle that falls within these categories may therefore be subject to the provisions of the 1971 Act.
