To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on the implementation of the employment action programme.

Mr. McLoughlin

Since its introduction in 1991 employment action has played a valuable role in providing temporary work to help unemployed people maintain their existing skills. This will continue to be one of the options in the new training for work provision that will be introduced in April 1993.
