§ Mr. Stewart[holding answer 27 November 1992]: Six carpet manufacturing plants currently operate in Scotland—four of which are owned by Stoddart Sekers International plc. Scotland also has several yarn spinning and dyeing companies which supply the carpet industry. Employment in the industry in Scotland is approximately 1,600.
