§ Mr. Tony LloydTo ask the Secretary of State for Health (1) if she will establish an inquiry into the resourcing, planning and co-ordination of accident and emergency units in Greater Manchester; and if she will make a statement;
(2) if she will arrange for an investigation into the number of occasions during November when more than one accident and emergency unit was closed in the central and south Manchester areas, and into the impact on patients; and if she will make a statement.
§ Dr. MawhinneyNorth Western regional health authority co-ordinates the provision of accident and emergency services across Greater Manchester. A working party into the provision of these services has recently concluded its work. The hon.
