HC Deb 02 April 1992 vol 222 c512W
Mr. Frank Field

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) what effect the planned future expenditure in respect of the eight existing city action teams as published in his Department's annual report will have on the level of activity of the teams;

(2) what plans he has to wind up each of the eight existing city action teams; and on what date.

Mr. Robin Squire

The city action teams' main task is the co-ordination locally of the Government's programmes for our urban areas, including city challenge. Our expenditure plans will enable that work to continue. The Government are keeping urban needs under review, taking account of information derived from the 1991 census and other sources, and will consider the future of city action teams in the light of that.
