HC Deb 22 October 1991 vol 196 c530W
Mr. Barry Field

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how much will be saved in a full year from the Isle of Wight division budget as a result of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight police rank restructuring; and what proportion of this saving is to be spent on more policemen for the Isle of Wight division.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

I understand from the chief constable of Hampshire that the amalgamation of the two Isle of Wight sub-divisions under the command of a superintendent was made to improve management of the force, and is not expected to provide financial savings. The level of policing on the Isle of Wight will remain unchanged.
