HC Deb 22 October 1991 vol 196 c644W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list by location all the sites where chromium powder and chromium waste is dumped; and what precautions are taken to ensure that it is not(a) inhaled and (b) allowed to come into contact with the general public.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

The Scottish Office does not hold this information centrally. The nature of wastes going into specific landfill sites and suitable operational terms and conditions are matters for the district and islands councils under the licensing provisions of the Control of Pollution Act 1974.

Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list by(a) year and (b) by regional health authority for the last five years, the number of cases of (i) chromium poisoning and (ii) chromium contamination that have been reported.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

This information is not available centrally.
