HC Deb 21 October 1991 vol 196 c453W
Mr. Graham

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the radiation leaks from submarines in the River Clyde.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

There has never been a significant accidental discharge of radioactive material to the environment from a Royal Navy nuclear submarine in the Clyde. If any such accidental discharge were to occur, it would be reported to the relevant statutory authority. For the Clyde, this would be the Scottish Office Environment Department.
