Mr. Simon Hughes

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy how many representations he has received recently(a) directly and (b) via hon. Members on the subject of renewable energy.

Mr. Moynihan

On 5 August I announced a new ministerial advisory group to spearhead the Government's review of renewable energy strategy. Since then I have received about 130 representations directly, and about 400 via hon. Members, on the subject of renewable energy.

Mr. Flynn

to ask the Secretary of State for Energy what recent meetings he has had with the Office of Electricity Regulation in regard to applications made to generate electricity by renewable systems; and what policy decision he has taken as a result.

Mr. Heathcoat-Amory

My officials have liaised closely with OFFER throughout the exercise to make the proposed Renewables Order 1991 as part of the statutory consultations. My right hon. Friend will make the order when the statutory consultations with the Director-General of Electricity Supply and the regional electricity companies have been completed.
