HL Deb 21 October 1991 vol 531 c116WA
Earl Russell

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are satisfied in the light of predictions of rising sea levels, that the site of the Public Record Office at Kew now enjoys adequate protection from flooding.

The Lord Chancellor (Lord Mackay of Clashfern)

Since the construction of the Thames Barrier, the Government are satisfied that the records in the Public Record Office building enjoy adequate protection from flooding. Additionally, the embankment adjoining the building was reinforced before the development of the site in the 1970s.
