Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many employees of London Transport earned £30,000 per annum or more in 1990–91; and how many are estimated to have those earnings in 1991–92.

Mr. McLoughlin

The Government do not hold detailed information on the remuneration of London Transport employees. Nor would it be appropriate for us to do so. This is a management matter for London Transport and its subsidiaries.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport whether he has determined the salary levels for 1991–92 of the chairman and board members of London Transport with effect from April 1991; if he will list them and provide the total; and what were the equivalent figures for 1990–91.

My right hon. and learned Friend is still considering the recommendations on salary levels for 1991–92 for the chairman and board of London Transport. details of the emoluments received by all members of the board for 1990–91 are given in London Transport's annual report for that year.
