HC Deb 21 October 1991 vol 196 c444W
Mr. Skinner

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is the latest annual figure for the cost of hospitality provided by the Ministry of Defence; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

The amount spent on official hospitality by the Ministry of Defence in financial year 1990–91 amounted to some £3.9 million and in financial year 1991–92, to September, some £1.7 million. These figures include expenditure incurred by the Ministry of Defence itself, by formations and establishments of the armed forces at home and abroad, and by individual officers occupying command and international appointments for which entertainment allowances are payable.
