HL Deb 21 October 1991 vol 531 c119WA
Lord Jenkins of Putney

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many executions took place in 1990 in each country where the death penalty continues to exist and whether it is their view that the death penalty should be abolished throughout the world.

The Earl of Caithness

According to Amnesty International, there were 2,029 executions in 26 countries. The question of abolition is a matter for individual governments.
