HC Deb 21 October 1991 vol 196 c335W
Mr. Rowlands

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what physical adaptations and additions have been made to courts in Wales to ensure the effective implementation of the Children Act 1989.

Mr. John Patten

In the case of magistrates courts the provision of accommodation is a matter for the magistrates' courts committee to determine after consultation with the providing local authority concerned. The Home Office has provided capital grant to fund the creation of an extra courtroom for juvenile and family work at Swansea. This is in addition to other improvements to accommodation for children's proceedings in Welsh magistrates' courts for which Home Office project approval was not required which may have been undertaken.
