To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many representations he has received from members of the public, depositors and staff over the Bank of Credit and Commerce International.

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer when he was told that the restructuring plans for BCCI would not go ahead; and if he will make a statement.

Treasury Ministers were informed of the content of the press statement issued by the majority shareholders on 3 October, shortly before it was released.

I expect Lord Justice Bingham to report as soon as is possible, consistent with his duty to be thorough and probing.
