HC Deb 14 October 1991 vol 196 c110W
Mr. Spearing

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what representations he has received concerning the future responsibility for, direction and duties of the Port of London Authority police subsequent to the appointed day when the Port of Tilbury becomes a legal entity; and how and by whom their current responsibilities outside that port will be discharged.

Mr. McLoughlin

My hon. Friend the Member for Southend, East (Mr. Taylor) and the chairman of the Port of London Authority Police Federation have written on this subject. Since the current responsibilities of the Port of London police force do not extend beyond the port of Tilbury, the question of who should in future discharge those responsibilities outside that port does not arise.
