HL Deb 14 October 1991 vol 531 c89WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether there has been regular consultation between the major coalition allies in the Gulf hostilities on the subject of an overall settlement in the Middle East, and if so to what effect.

The Earl of Caithness

We have been in regular touch with all coalition allies, and with other countries, on the Middle East peace process. We have urged all concerned to agree arrangements for a peace conference. We very much hope that this will now take place. It would provide an unprecedented opportunity to start a process leading towards peace in the region.
