§ Mr. John BrowneTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence (1) whether the new Light Division depot at Flowerdown, Winchester, will be retained in order to train all Army recruits from the south of England, with those from the south-east being trained at the new Guards and Parachute depot at Pirbright;
(2) if he will concentrate all initial basic training for the Army on the six infantry division depots in preference to forming general Army recruit training depots.
§ Mr. Archie HamiltonThe aim of restructuring the Army's training base is to make optimum use of existing sites by concentrating training at a smaller number of larger establishments. The locations for initial training in the Army remain under study and no final decisions have been taken.
