§ Mrs. RumboldThe total cost of the Home Office animals (scientific procedures) inspectorate for 1990–91 was over £1.5 million. Salary costs for inspector; and support staff were some £842,000 and £295,000 respectively. Travelling and subsistence costs for inspectors amounted to some £100,000 and accommodation and other costs including computing were some £309,000.
