HC Deb 27 November 1991 vol 199 c553W
Dr. Godman

To ask the Lord President of the Council what communications he has received from the chairman of the Advisory Committee on Works of Art in the House of Commons regarding the choice of more suitable positions on the Committee floor for the sculpture of Charles Stewart Parnell and the painting, "The men who made Home Rule"; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. MacGregor

[holding answer 25 November 1991]: The Advisory Committee on Works of Art, chaired by my hon. Friend the Member for Staffordshire South (Mr. Cormack), reports to Mr. Speaker and the Secretary of State for the Environment. I understand however that, following a previous question about the location of the bust, the advisory committee did not consider it necessary to recommend an alternative location. I understand also that the advisory committee has not been asked to consider a new location for the painting.
