§ The Attorney-GeneralThe criteria for the grant of bail is contained in the Bail Act 1976 and its application to individual cases is a matter for judicial determination by the relevant court having heard representations from both prosecution and defence. In the case to which the hon. Member refers the Crown prosecution service made representations that bail should be withheld.
