To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) when he received the National Medical Advisory Committee report on mentally handicapped people in Scottish hospitals from his advisory committee;

(2) when he expects to publish the National Medical Advisory Committee report on mentally handicapped people in Scottish hospitals from his advisory committee;

(3) if he will implement without delay the recommendations outlined in the National Medical Advisory Committee report on mentally handicapped people in Scottish hospitals from his advisory committee.

The report "Everybody Out?", produced by a working group of the National Medical Advisory Committee, was passed to the Scottish Office Home and Health Department by the Health Service Advisory Council in July 1990. The valuable work done by the working group has contributed significantly to the development within the Scottish Office of policy and guidance for care in the community for people with a mental handicap.
