§ The Lord Privy Seal (Lord Waddington)Her Majesty's Government have consulted the scientific community, and does not consider that the cost of full membership of the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) can be justified at present. Some UK agencies have shown interest in specific IIASA programmes, but IIASA are not willing to accept such isolated participation from countries not contributing to the core funding. The situation will be kept under review.
