HC Deb 27 November 1991 vol 199 c516W
36. Mr. Simon Coombs

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on development of British trading links with eastern Europe.

Mr. Sainsbury

British trading links with eastern Europe have developed in a number of welcome ways. At Government level we took the lead in bringing about last week's initialling of association agreements between the EC and Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Poland; we have also opened three new diplomatic posts in the Baltic republics and are establishing consulates-general in Kiev and St. Petersburg.
