§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonWater authorities have given undertakings to my right hon. Friend that their assessments of water supply zones where there is a risk that the United Kingdom standard for lead in water may not always be met will be completed by 31 December 1991. Where a need for further treatment to comply with the regulations is identified authorities will be required to undertake the necessary improvements within specified time scales.
