HC Deb 21 November 1991 vol 199 c288W
Mr. Rooney

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what has been the cost of implementing training credits.

Mr. Jackson

The training credits initiative is a partnership involving expenditure from many different sources, including employers. In 1990–91, the cost to the Department of developing the training credits pilot schemes was £4.8 million. Planned provision for the 11 pilot schemes in the first full year of operation, 1991–92, is £122 million. This does not take account of administrative costs incurred by the Department and the training and enterprise councils and local enterprise company delivering training credits.

Mr. Rooney

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what sums have been spent on advertising training credits(a) to employers and (b) to trainees.

Mr. Jackson

The Department has incurred no expenditure on advertising training credits.
