HC Deb 21 November 1991 vol 199 c287W
Mr. Cox

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment why he decided not to accept the recommendation of the Select Committee on Employment's fifth report of Session 1990–91 that there should be only one auditor for each training and enterprise council; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Jackson

This is fully set out in the Government's response to the Committee's report, a copy of which is available in the Library. The current audit arrangements are necessary to ensure the proper stewardship of public money and to comply with the Companies Act. These do not affect the TECs' ability to operate in a flexible and enterprising way.
