HC Deb 21 November 1991 vol 199 c231W
Mr. Pike

To ask the Attorney-General what recent discussions his Department has had with local authorities regarding enforcement of existing Sunday shopping legislation; and if he will make a statement.

The Attorney-General

I have had correspondence with three local authorities in England recently concerning enforcement of the law and, in particular, the effect of recent decisions of the courts.

A local authority in Northern Ireland has also asked me whether I would be prepared to consent to an application for an injunction against a retailer that was allegedly breaking the law. My consent is needed under the law of Northern Ireland.
