HC Deb 21 November 1991 vol 199 c243W
Mr. Chris Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the position of Her Majesty's Government on the question of state immunity being used in the case of Polly Peck in connection with the unrecognised state of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Mr. Garel-Jones

The Government do not recognise the "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus" as a state. It would not be appropriate for me to comment on the matter raised by the hon. Gentleman, which is sub judice.
