Mr. Robert Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what is the estimated cost of the upgrading to motorway standards of the A1 in North Yorkshire and the completion date of the programme.

Seven A1(M) upgrading schemes are wholly or partially within the county of North Yorkshire. The estimated cost of all these schemes at current prices is approximately £550 million and completion is expected within 10 years.
