Mr. Sheerman

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many international flights arrive from overseas destinations each week into Cardiff airport; how many flights per week arrive from Florida; and how many flights a week arrive from Amsterdam.

Mr. McLoughlin

In the 1991 summer season, there were about 88 international flights each week into Cardiff airport, of which 45 were scheduled services and 43 were charter services. Of the total number, one flight was from Florida (charter) and 18 were from Amsterdam (scheduled).

For the 1991–92 winter season there will be about 75 international flights into Cardiff airport, of which 57 will be scheduled services and 18 will be charter services. Of the total, none will be from Florida and 19 scheduled flights from Amsterdam.
