Mr. Dobson

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will give separate figures for spending by the Metropolitan police on(a) television advertising, (b) radio advertising, (c) newspaper advertising and (d) other promotional material in 1979–80 and in each following year; and what are his latest estimates for 1991–92 and budgets for 1992–93.

[holding answer 5 November 1991]: I understand from the Commissioner that expenditure by the Metropolitan police on all forms of recruitment and other advertising, and other promotional material in each financial year since 1979–80 is as follows (it is not possible to give separate spending figures for the years before 1987–88):
